At Avery Exotics we specialize in breeding, importing, and selling invertebrates, mainly tarantulas, true spiders, centipedes, and scorpions.  We also deal with a few species of reptiles. Our goal is to provide unmatched selection, competitive pricing and in depth expertise that will help drive our hobby forward in Canada!

Avery Exotics was founded by Dave Avery in 2004.  Originally from New Brunswick, Dave has always had a passion for invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians.  He moved to Kelowna, British Columbia in the summer of 2003 to complete a work practicum through the Center For Arts and Technology.  He decided to stay in British Columbia, and he purchased a few invertebrates and reptiles for his personal collection.  Kelowna was also where Dave met and eventually married his wife, Kari.  In the meantime, Dave’s collection of animals continued to grow.  The couple moved to Prince George, BC for work. After purchasing a home, they constructed an outbuilding designed specifically for the business. In the spring of 2009, Dave and Kari welcomed their first child, Lucas!  By this time, Avery Exotics was in full swing and is still running strong today!  In addition to running Avery Exotics, Dave works full-time as an IT Professional for Northern Health Authority and also contracts for clinical application support at doctors’ offices.

Slowing Down Business

With the addition of our second son in recent months, we've made the decision to cut back on the business aspect of the hobby. The time constraints of working full time along with caring for our growing family make it difficult to maintain the stock levels we've offered our customers in the past. As such, our availability list is significantly smaller than normal. Please feel free to browse the list and contact us with any questions you may have or for inquiries on species not listed and we'll do our best to fulfill each request. Going forward we'll be responding to communications as quickly as time allows. The only event we're currently planning to attend this year is the 8th Annual BC Arachnoparty which will be held in Westbank/West Kelowna, BC on Saturday, August 6th, details will be posted shortly. We appreciate the friendship and loyalty of our past customers and look forward to continued dealings with everyone. As always, we're here as an information resource on all aspects of the hobby!
