I currently offer over 60 species of tarantula as well as a growing variety of true spiders, scorpions, centipedes and other invertebrates for both the novice and the experienced keeper.

I am passionate about my animals and this ever growing hobby so I strive for exceptional customer service, a variety of quality specimens, knowledgeable advice and a professional attitude.

Another of my passions include educating people about the animals we hobbyists have come to know and love. By providing educational presentations for all ages and group sizes at schools, birthday parties and other events I hope to calm some of the fear that comes from misunderstanding spiders and hearing un backed horror stories about these amazing animals.

Update: February 2nd, 2010

Customs Strike In Chile Delays Order:
Unfortunately our shipment of Chilean species has been delayed due to the recent customs strike in Chile. We hope to have the customs paperwork finalized shortly so the order can be shipped. We apologize for the inconvenience and we'll post an update once we have a finalized date for arrival.

It's Getting Chile At Avery Exotics !
We've got a huge selection of incredible arachnids from Chile arriving just after Christmas! Many of these species are bulletproof for care, easily handled and colourful! We'll have all sizes available from juveniles right up to sexed females! We'll be doing a full update of our availability page when they arrive so be sure to check back as many of these species are very rarely offered in Canada and they'll disappear fast!

Winter Shipping Is Here !
2009 has been our busiest year yet and due to the high demand for continued service we're now offering winter shipping! Live arrival is guaranteed with the purchase of an insulated box and heat packs for $15. Winter is no longer the bane of Canadian arachnid hobbyists!

Happy Holidays From Avery Exotics !
2009 has been an amazing year and we'd like to extend our gratitude to our loyal customers and their families. May 2010 be filled with fond memories and many legged friends!

E.R.A.S Fall Show!
This will be your last chance this year to check us out at a show! We'll be attending with our full selection of stock! We look forward to ending the year off at this show so be sure to stop by and say hello! Click HERE for all the details.

Red Deer ReptileShow!
We had an awesome time in Red Deer this year, thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat and check out the selection!

6th Annual BC Arachnoparty!
This year's Arachnoparty was a great success! Thanks to all those who made it out and a special thanks to Rick West for sharing with us again this year and to Stan Schultz for making an appearance! Don't miss the 7th annual next summer!

Poecilotheria metallica & More!
We are now taking pre-orders for Poecilotheria metallica(Gooty Sapphire Ornamental) which will be ready to go soon! We're selling them for the all new Canadia price of only $150! Here's your chance to get the species you've always wanted for an amazing price! As an added bonus, we'll be offering free ground shipping via Canada Post Express anywhere in Canada for this species(up to a $30 value)! We're also offering exciting species like Ephebopus cyanognathus(Blue Fang Skeleton) and Sericopelma melanotarsum which haven't been seen in the Canadian hobby for a while!

Pre-Orders a great success!
The pre-orders for our spring import were a great success! We have very little remaining from the import as stock went very quickly! Because of this, we'll be leaving the pre-order list on the availability site as we'll be doing another import in the near future. If something catches your eye on the list or there's a certain species you're looking for be sure to let us know!

New Addition!
We're happy to announce the birth of Lucas Edward Avery who was born at 11:59pm on April 26th! He weighed in at 8lbs 12oz and was over 22" long! Both mom and baby are doing great! Special thanks to our customers for their patience and understanding during this exciting time!

Upcoming Spring Shows:
Unfortunately we won't have tables at the TARAS show in Calgary at the end of April or the ERAS show in Edmonton at the end of may but we have a very good reason for the absence! We're happy to announce that our first baby is due on April 27th! Orders can still be shipped to individuals and pre-orders can be picked up at the ERAS show at the Canadian Cricket Company(Mads Lund) table. We appreciate your patience and customer loyalty as we celebrate adding a new member to our family!

Spring Shipping Season Open!
At last, after a long, cold and very snowy winter our spring shipping season has arrived! Shake off those winter blahs and make room on your invert shelves for this spring's new additions!

BC Exotics Ban!:
Unfortunately the proposed exotics ban has passed but luckily no invertebrates were included in the list. The list includes mainly large and potentially dangerous mammals as well as venemous snakes and lizards and snakes and lizards reaching 3 meters or more from snout to tip of the tail. You can review details of the ban HERE.

New Gallery Is Up!:
Check out our new gallery HERE! We've uploaded a large number of pictures ranging from inverts to reptiles and amphibians to pictures of our Great Dane pup Lex! Some of the pictures still need to be renamed and organized but feel free to check it out! If you have any pictures you'd like to have displayed in the gallery, just email them to us including a description of the picture as well as the name of the person who took it(so the proper credit can be given!)! If you find any issues with the links or any glitches, please email us to let us know!

5th Annual BC Arachnoparty!: This years Arachnoparty was a great success and it was a pleasure to have world-renowned tarantula expert, Rick West in attendance for his first ever Canadian event presentation! Special thanks to Rick and also to John Whittall who offered the use of his home for the event! We would like to thank all who attended for making this another great year! We already have plans in the works for next years event!

New Facility Complete!:
We are very happy to announce the completion of our new animal facility! The project was a while in the making but it's finally finished and we're just working on the final organization of the new enclosures and animals. If you live in the area or plan on coming through, drop us a line as we'd love to have you come by! The added space this new facility provides is going to allow us to expand the collection to include more breeding projects with invertebrates and we're also dedicating space for reptile and amphibian breeding projects! We also plan to offer a wide range of feeders to our local customers in the near future! Special thanks to my father in law Jelmer Dykema who helped throughout the entire project and also to Bill Mitchell who's contracting expertise was invaluable during construction! Check out pictures of the construction process HERE!

NEW: We are offering 3 unique opportunities for local schools to get up close and personal with some amazing animals! Click HERE for more details!

For amazing Invertebrate artwork check out John Whittall's site: http://jbc100.shawwebspace.ca/John produces some amazing work and my living room is plastered with his prints!

Check out the Available Arachnids section for new slings that are on the way. Also, check the bottom of the available page for a list of mature or soon to be mature individuals that are ready for breeding loans. I have finished optimizing a load of pictures for the gallery so be sure to check it out! I will also be posting on the final events of the season to give everyone an idea of what's happening.

My name is David Avery and I have been working with exotics including reptiles, arachnids and other invertebrates for some time now.

I am currently based out of Prince George, British Columbia with shipping services available to any destination in Canada.

Be sure to check out the availability lists as they will be changing on a regular basis. Also keep an eye on the Upcoming Events section as I will be posting reptile and arachnid based events and shows that will be happening here in Western Canada. I will have a table at most of the "Buy and Sell" events here in British Columbia and Alberta and there might just be a show happening in your area!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have and I will get back to you as promptly as possible.
