Avery Exotics is proud to present 3 unique opportunities to bring the wonderful world of exotic animals to your classroom!

Critter Corner
Critter Corner provides the opportunity for a class to “rent” an exotic animal and its enclosed habitat for either brief or extended periods of time. There will be a variety of Arachnids, Insects, Reptiles, and Amphibians available to choose from based on class interest or the unit the class is studying. A minimal deposit will be required. This deposit will be refunded at the end of the animal’s stay in your classroom, provided the animal is in good health and the borrowed equipment is returned in good condition. In addition, the cost to “rent” the animal will depend on the species, the extent of habitat setup required, and the length of the animal’s stay. A brief orientation regarding care of the species will be given at the time of delivery. Orientation will include information on care of the species, nutritional requirements, and correct handling procedures.

Educational Presentations
Avery Exotics offers interactive educational presentations covering a variety of topics, including Arachnids, Insects, Reptiles, and Amphibians. These presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of any age or group size and allow students to get up close and personal with animals that they normally would not have the opportunity to interact with. The presentations include in-depth explanations of the natural history of the animals, discussions about predator/prey relationships, and information about the animals’ natural habitats. Each presentation is followed by a Q & A session. Presentation fees are determined on an individual basis. Informal presentations are also available for birthday parties and/or other youth events.
Curriculum Resources and Recommended Reading
Avery Exotics is currently developing curriculum material and lists of recommended reading for the study of Arachnids, Insects, Reptiles, and Amphibians. Curriculum resources will be created as teaching units, broken down into a number of individual lessons, activities, recommended field trips, testing material, and additional reading. These curriculum resources can be modified and expanded to meet the learning outcomes of both elementary and high school students. Included with this original material will be a list of recommended reading and/or multimedia that can be helpful for these units. Curriculum fees will depend on the target grade, as well as how in-depth the teacher would like to explore these topics. Critter Corner and Educational Presentations can be used to complement and reinforce topics learned through these curriculum resources.
